Maybe you’re held back by the effort required to move your email to a new host. If that’s the case, here’s a walkthrough of migration and configuration for a new FastMail account.
This is a pretty decent guide to moving to Fastmail from another email provider. I moved at the start of this year (along with my wife) and we’ve really liked it so far.
One problem I encountered when moving from Gmail was that the IMAP migration didn’t work. Gmail has a limit of messages that can be yanked at once over IMAP — I think it’s something like 3000 but it could vary. To get around this I segregated all of my archived messages based on date, applying a label to each one. For this you can use the Gmail date search operator:
Then import each label individually.
If you’re thinking of making the switch, I get a kickback if you use my affiliate link. But no pressure.
UPDATE: Max Masnick introduced me to this script which is a simpler way to transfer from Gmail if you’re willing to leave it running for a while.
