Shawn Blanc has a couple of good ideas for selling your old iPhone. It seems bizarre that you can get more money for an old phone than you’re paying up front for the new one.
You’re really not: if you factor in the amortized cost that you repay to the carrier over your contract (the reason they can sell you an iPhone for $200 when it’s triple that independantly) then you find out that you’re actually paying more like $800-$1000. Or more, if you continue using that contract after your 24 months are up.
So take good care of it, because it’s a lot more expensive than you might think. I’m in the same camp as Shawn: my gadgets don’t seem to break as often (or need as much casing) as other people’s. Knock on wood…
