Three Ways Parish Websites Fail

Over on my Highland Creative blog:

The major area that most parish websites are ridiculed for is design, meaning how it looks. There are a lot of terrible Catholic websites out there, it’s true. The awkward mixture of early-2000s web design sensibility with the baroque artistic tradition of the Church has spawned some digital monstrosities. One reason that almost every Protestant church has a better website is that they can afford to go minimal, and minimalism covers a multitude of potential design flaws. Catholics are constitutionally indisposed to minimalism — probably because they’ve never seen it done well in a Catholic context.
