What I Read In 2015

In 2015, I read 96 books, beating my 2014 number handily. In 2014, I tracked what I had read using my own plaintext system. For most of 2015, I used an iOS app of my own devising (still in beta) to track what I was reading. An unfortunate but completely avoidable loss of the data stored in that app meant that I had to cobble together the below list from Amazon data. To help with this, I’ve created a Chrome extension. I might release it publically, but in the meantime, if you’re interested feel free to ask for a copy of the extension.

In 2014 the theme was predominantly Science Fiction. This past year I had a yen for Historical Fiction. It’s hard to find good books in this genre because when you search for them on Overdrive the quality titles are mixed in with dross called things like To Catch A Highlander, &c.

This past year, I expect my number of books read was increased largely by the number of great series I discovered. Special mentions include the Cadfael books by Ellis Peters, the Saxon Tales series by Bernard Cornwell, the Long Earth series by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter, and – most recently – the Reacher books by Lee Child.

The most difficult but also the most rewarding book I read this year was The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco.

I read 88 Kindle books, and 8 paper books (as far as I can remember, although these are harder to track!)

Here are all the books I read in 2015:
